August 2015

August was a busy but fun month for us.
We played at the Museum of Natural Curiosity down at Thanksgiving Point.

We took a family vacation to California.
We left early on a Sunday morning.

We stopped off at Las Vegas for Sacrament Meeting.

Lesson learned, never travel to California on a Sunday afternoon.  Apparently all of California goes up to Vegas to gamble for the weekend.  We sat in a four hour traffic jam!!  NOT FUN!!

We stayed with an aunt and uncle that live in Long Beach.  Monday morning, we hit the beach.

Playing in the waves.

Finding seashells

His second experience with the ocean....still not a fan.

Sand castle building galore.

Monday evening we ventured up to the Greek Theatre to see Lindsey Stirling.  Meow-meow LOVES Lindsey Stirling.  We got to go into the sound check and Q&A before the show.

I love the lady in the background, looking at us like, "oh no!  Why do I have to sit next to these boys!"

Tuesday found us playing at Legoland!!

Wednesday morning, we made a repeat appearance at Legoland before making the trek to Prescott, Arizona to stay with some cousins.

Thursday we went to Jerome, Arizona for some ghosty fun.

Tasty haunted hamburgers.

An old hospital turned into hotel and ghost tour spot.

Hanging in the lobby of the haunted hotel

Awesome clerk at the front desk.

Visiting an old mining ghost town.

Friday we arose early and made the trek up to the Grand Canyon.  Some of our kids decided to be lazy and not get dressed, they got to tour the Grand Canyon in their pj's.

Working on getting junior ranger badges.

This was Meow-meow's reaction to seeing the Grand Canyon for the first time.

We watched the sunset, then stayed to see the stars.

And of course everyone had to be silly.

Meow-meow brought the toilet paper.

It was very windy.

But plenty warm.

A perfect night for stargazing.

Saturday morning we made our last visit to the Grand Canyon before making the long trek home. We went on a fossil hike and everyone earned their junior ranger badges.

After the fun of our vacation, it was back to life as normal and the start of a brand new school year.
She's a 7th grader now.

He's in 9th grade.

This one is in 6th grade.

Third grade for her.

Can't believe he's in 5th grade now.  Poor kid, school started on his birthday.  Boo!!

And 4th grade.

So sad, his siblings went back to school without him.

Last, but not least, Spider Monkey turned 10!!!

And that is how our August rolled to a close.
