Lindsey Stirling

When Meow-meow gets stressed, mad, anxious, tired, or grumpy, we would put on his favorite Youtube videos.  It started out with everything Alex Boye, but then he heard Lindsey Stirling and it's been all Lindsey Stirling from there out.  We have even created his own Lindsey Stirling channel with all of his favorites.  But then we started noticing something, not only did the music calm him down, but he was very attentive to it.  He discovered the chopsticks in the silverware drawer.  He would take his chopsticks everywhere.  At first he would just hold the chopsticks in the air and rub them together.  But with more observing her videos, he started putting one chopstick under his chin and using the other one as the bow and would mimic the movements of playing a violin.  He called his chopsticks his "violin."  Then he started to dance while playing his "violin" "bi-in" in Meow-meow-ees.  We noticed that he was mimicking Lindsey's dance moves.  Meow-meow knows her videos backwards and forwards, he knows her dance moves and everything.
Here he's playing his "violin" and dancing to the musical Christmas Tree.
As you know, last August we took a trip to California to see Lindsey in concert.  We were able to go in for the sound check and Q&A before the concert.  Meow-meow was just enthralled by the experience and afterwards Lindsey became even more of a favorite.  We listen to Lindsey every day, sometimes even several times a day.

This is from the concert in August.
We knew that Meow-meow needed his very own violin and grandma hunted down one for Christmas.

Opening up his violin.

Well., back in December, we heard rumor that Lindsey (or Winsey Huring in Meow-meow-ees) wrote a book and would be having a book signing.  We knew that we would have to make sure that Meow-meow made it to meet her.  Well, that book signing was this evening January 19th.  The signing started at 6, we got there at 4:45 and the line was already getting long, but we did get a good spot in line.  We had told him that he was going to meet Lindsey and it's all he could talk about all day long.
Waiting in line to meet her.

There she is!!  Got a good shot from where we were.
Getting our books signed.

His eyes were so big with wonder.  He couldn't keep his eyes off of her.  It was so much fun to see him react to meeting her.

She even signed his toy violin.

With permission from the owner, Firebolt got the violin shes' been using signed.

Selfie with Lindsey.  I love how he won't take his eyes off of her.

We even tried to get him to look at the camera, but nope, he only had eyes for Lindsey.

All the way home, he talked and talked about meeting Lindsey Stirling.

What once was a toy is now a collectors item

It was a fun evening.  I've read her book half way and it's a really good book, I am really enjoying it!!

December 2015

Well, here we are, the last of the year in review.  It was quite a year, it will be interesting to see how this year goes and what life has in store for the Davis family.  We had a busy and fun December.  My little brother and his family flew in from Dubai.  It was a good Christmas, we were very blessed.

My poor Christmas Tree, looking more and more pathetic as the month drew on.
We had a birthday party for Firecracker.

Santa made a visit to the ward Christmas breakfast.
We got massive amounts of snow!

It just wouldn't stop!
Firebolt had a Christmas orchestra concert.

We had our annual Christmas nativity at grandma's

Christmas eve with grandma and grandpa.

Christmas morning at grandma's

She got her very own sewing machine!

Chocolates from Dubai.  They were SO good!!
Christmas Eve came a day late for our family.  I made sure that Santa knew when to deliver the presents.

They got coal in their stockings, candy coal.
Lion Heart, Firecracker, and Tiger Lily came on the morning of the 26th for our half of the Christmas break...so we had more Christmas!!

My awesomely and fabulously talented cousin made these for me!

Meow-meow got his own play violin.

Birthday fun on the day before her birthday.
Thirteen years ago on New Years Eve, Firebolt entered the world.  Her due date wasn't until January 9th but we opted to have her on New Years Eve.  The first thing that most people comment is about how she was a "tax break", while true, that is not the reason we opted to have her on New Years Eve. My ex had his daughter down for Christmas and she would be going back home before Firebolt was born.  We would not get her for a visit again until summer.  We wanted her to be able to meet her little sister before she had to go home.  We talked it over with my doctor and she said I was far enough along that we could induce.  New Years Eve wouldn't have been our first choice, but it was the only day the doctor and the hospital could fit us in, so we took it.  Having her birthday on a holiday has always been a sore spot for Firebolt.  She feels like her birthday has taken second place to New Years.  Since getting divorced, I've only had her every other year on her birthday.  I've always tried to make New Years Eve all about her birthday and the holiday secondary.  Her main complaint was it wasn't always so when she wasn't with me.  So, this year I decided that we would make it all about her birthday.

She spent the night at her grandma's house.  The young women in  her Beehive class came over and decorated our front door.  I was trying to figure out what to do when I ran across something on Facebook.  Have a child with a birthday on Christmas/New Years? Turn the tree into a birthday tree.  I knew immediately that is what I had to do.  I dashed out to the store to buy balloons and streamers.  Spaceman Spiff and Lion Heart helped me blow up the balloons and hang them on the tree.  We finished just as Firebolt pulled up with grandma and grandpa.

Birthday party fun.

Cousins giving her a present.

I now have two teenagers in the house!!
Well, that's it, 2015 in a nutshell.  I cannot believe how fast 2015 went by.  So I guess I'll see ya'll tomorrow when I do my 2016 year in review!
