March and September was really hard to decide which came next in my lineup of favorites. There are things I like and dislike about both months. I guess March and September are both neutral months for me and they came in at a tie. However, for the sake of what I'm doing on this blog (A. Trying to do something fun in the month of January to keep my sanity. And B. Doing a 2013 year in review) I couldn't do both months in one blog post. But how to decide which month to do first?? It was quite the conundrum. So, I did what anyone would do in this situation, I flipped a coin. Heads I did March, tails I did September. I thought about doing rock, paper, scissors but that's hard to play with yourself. So, in the end which month won?
There are things I like about March and things I just don't like about March. The things I dislike about March are:
It's still cold.
We still get snow.
It's windy.
It's muddy.
Sometimes you need just a jacket and sometimes you need a coat. It's almost as if the weather is bi-polar or something.
With the snow all melted, the trees, grass, and skies are still grey and blah, at least the first half of March is this way.
The things I like about March are:
It's got the first day of spring going for it, which is good.
The weather is warming up.
By the end of March, the grass is starting to get green, the early budding trees are putting out their leaves, and some flowers are starting to poke out of the ground.
Sometimes you only need a jacket instead of a coat.
The days are getting even longer.
It's the perfect month to fly kites.
It's got the only day of the year that we are told to go forward..... March fourth. LOL!! Couldn't resist that one :)
I did some thinking about it while writing this blog and I suppose by a very small margin I do like March better than September. Lucky I flipped heads then eh? The reasons why I like March marginally better than September is that we are heading into spring and summer with warm happy weather ahead. While September is going into cold, dark winter.
Thank heavens for evergreen trees that stay green all year round. But my favorite of the deciduous trees hands down is the willow trees. Whether they are weeping willows or globe willows, I love them. They are the first trees to put out their leaves. I'm like a kid in a candy shop when I start to see their branches "greening" up. And I squeal with joy when the leaves start to open. Also note: They are one of the last to lose their leaves in the fall. I've watched.
So what happened in March 2013?
Firecracker had a ballet recital.
I ran into the Queen of Colors. (For the reference to this, go read http://www.itjustgetsstranger.com/)
We took a trip to the zoo.
More tree climbing
Easter treats that grandma made.
Me and my sister-in-law pregnant together :)
Easter Egg hunt at grandma's house.
Spider Monkey losing lots of teeth.
Snow melting from the house we were renting.
