Happy New Year!! Welcome 2014
The time has come to say goodbye to the old year and welcome in the new one. The past year was a busy year for our family. I am looking forward to this new year with open arms and optimism. I'm looking forward to the many grand adventures that await my family this year. And most of all, I'm looking forward to spring and summer.
For those of you who know me well, you know that I greatly dislike the month of January. It is my least favorite month of the year. The reasons I dislike January are many and I'll get into those later. A large part of it is that I suffer from S.A.D. (seasonal affective disorder). I get through October, November, and December okay because of the holidays. But January is a killer. For now, I am looking for ways to get through the month and have fun. Because, as a Type 1, fun is what life is all about. For those of you who don't know what I'm talking about when I call myself a Type 1, you should go read "It's Just My Nature" by Carol Tuttle.
The past three January's, I have gone back and re-read the entire Harry Potter series. I take my time and try to read slowly. Those of you who know me really really well will laugh at that. I don't read slow. But I try to read the series slowly and savor it, make it last all month long. I succeeded at it last year, finishing the series with only a few days left to the month. Harry Potter is by far my favorite book series and I look forward to re-reading it in January with about as much anticipation as I do for Christmas. But I also considered what else I could do to help pass the time with January.
It looks like it's all happy and smiling :) |
Then the light bulb came on and I knew what it was I would do. I am going to do a 2013 year in review. I could certainly do a year in review here in this blog post. But then it would be a shortened version of the year as to not make this post really really long. Then I thought if I took the next twelve days and covered each month in a separate post. I could put up a lot of pictures and tell about the adventures we had. Doing one month a day for the next twelve days should occupy me enough to get through the first half of January. But I'm going to add an extra twist. I'm not going to start with January 2013 and go in chronological order. I'm going to have fun with it.
Therefore I am going to start with my favorite month of the year and go in order from favorite to least favorite. I'll put up pictures and tell what happened in that particular month. I'll tell you why it's my favorite or not so favorite. I'm even going to talk about the holidays in the month and tell you why I like them, love them, or don't care for them. It's going to be fun. I hope you will all join me in this adventure down memory lane.
