I decorated for Thanksgiving. |

This was the biggest of the pumpkins that my dad grew. I saved it to use for a Turkey. My poor turkey looks a little retarded. But Meow-meow had fun posing with it. |

So.........you remember that match stick ball I was working on for Firebolt's birthday? Weeeeeeeeelllllllllll, I had a wee bit of an accident. Let's just say that I'm lucky to be alive and even luckier that I walked away without any burns. Okay, here's what happened....... The match stick ball was getting way too big and awkward to work with on my desk, but it was also way too big and awkward to work on while in my lap, plus I was afraid that if I bumped it on the edge of the desk wrong, it might go off. Therefore, brilliant me went looking around for something to set it on and then the "light bulb" went off and I thought using the step-stool would be a great idea. There was only one teensy weensy problem, said step-stool had a teeny screw on the handle. I had the match ball on the step-stool and my knees on the sides of the match stick ball and it was partially in my lap. Everything was going great and one minute I was happily hot gluing match sticks to the ball and the next thing I know, the whole thing lit up like the 4th of July. When one match goes off........THEY ALL GO OFF!!!! AND FAST!! Before I knew it, I had a huge flaming ball of fire in my lap. I started yelling for help as Nathan, luckily, was home and upstairs. I jumped up with the match stick ball in my hands, quickly trying to figure out what to do with it. However it was too hot to hold and the flames were coming at me quickly. I threw the ball away from me as fast as I could, except that I threw the ball right in the doorway.......effectively blocking off my ONLY escape route. Smoke was filling up the room fast, and I was losing oxygen quickly. Then all those fire drills from elementary school came back to me....stop, drop, and roll. Get to the lowest point. So I immediately dropped to the ground. The air quality was better down there, but not by much. Meanwhile, Nathan was pouring water on the match stick ball to get it put out. He told me to open the window and so I popped up and tried to get the window open as fast as I could all while retaining consiousness. We managed to get the fire put out and aside from some smoke damage, there was no other damage at all. We both had some pretty good adrenaline going on afterwards. |
