June Joys

Welcome back.  I hope you are ready for today's installment of the Davis Family 2024 year in review.  I promise that today won't be as long.  So, let's talk about it, shall we?

Tiger Lily turned 17!!

Meow-meow turned 11

Richard turned 20 *Insert picture here*

We had some ducks come to visit my pond.

Meow-meow force snuggling Whitley

My little garden "helper"

Jaina came for a visit

Meow-meow force snuggling Cocoa Bean.  His poor leg!!

Ducks came back for a return visit

She likes to annoy him any chance she can get.

Speaking about ducks in a pond....

We discovered that my poor neck is doing very odd and strange things, and has developed what I call a duck pond.  Hence the duck on my neck for reference.

There's Richard.

All of our June birthdays, we've got six of them, and three of them are mine, and those three of mine were all born in a span of 7 days....different years of course.  It makes for a whirlwind at the beginning of June.

Proof that I am a redhead!!  When I was a little girl, my mom cut my hair and sent some of the clippings to my grandma, who saved them because she thought that I "had the prettiest hair out of all the grandkids." (she would say that to me whenever I dyed my hair because she hated it when I dyed my hair).  I would dye my hair red because I LOVE red hair and always felt wronged that I didn't get the red hair (my dad, my aunt, my grandpa, and one cousin are all redheads).  Well, one particular time when I dyed my hair, and my grandma complained about it, she remembered that she had those hair cuttings.  She dug through her stuff and brought this little bag over to show me and to gloat.  It backfired because I compared these clippings to the current color of my hair, and they were the same color.  She never said anything to me about dying my hair ever again.  I had all but forgot about that until we were all sitting around discussing whether or not Jimmy is a redhead (which he is), and I remembered that I had these hair clippings.  So, I went and dug them out and was shocked at just how red my hair actually had been when I was a child.  I WAS a redhead.  Now I'm just upset that my hair didn't stay red, it just turned brown, so rude.  But, at one point in my life, I WAS a redhead!!!

SUCCESS!!  My patience won out and Scoot finally let me pet him!!  I think he will always be a little bit skittish, but from this point on, he would let me pet him, and let me tell you, he thinks that pets and skritches are the best things ever!!

I saved the best for last.....Richard and Oliva are engaged!!!

And that is all I have for June 2024.  I hope you have enjoyed it......

Something is missing.......oh yes, Jimmy (I didn't actually forget, I just wanted to build suspense).

What was Jimmy up to in the month of June???

You may have noticed that in some of those pictures Jimmy had a cast on his wrist.  This is an amazing story, a story of miracles and the mighty works of God.  Jimmy was doing some tricks on his bike (which he realizes probably weren't the best idea).  Well, as things usually do, things went south and he fell off his bike, landing on his wrist.  He immediately knew something was wrong and so he and his companion went to the Urgent Care.  The Urgent Care took x-rays and told him that his wrist had been fractured.  You could see the fracture on the x-ray.  So, they put him in a cast and told him to go see a specialist (meaning it would probably need some form of surgery to fix).  A FEW days later, Jimmy got in to see the specialist.  They took their own x-rays.  There was no fracture on those x-rays.  It's not that there was an error, because you could compare the two x-rays.  Fracture on one, no fracture on the other.  There is no possible way, but by the miraculous power of Heavenly Father that his fracture healed that fast!!  None, plain and simple!!  The specialist said that it was a sprain and put him in another cast that he had to wear for two weeks.  When the two weeks were up, they would remove the cast and do another x-ray, and probably do some physical therapy or something.  Well, the two weeks went by and Jimmy went in to get his cast removed.  They took another x-ray and there were no signs that even a sprain had occurred.  It was if nothing had even happened and no injury had ever taken place.  Miracles do happen.  I just love that story so much, and I am so grateful for a loving Heavenly Father who is looking out for my son.  I think our family needed that miracle so that we could look back on it because our life got really stressful in July, and it was a great help to be able to look back on that to give us strength and hope during our trials.

We got two emails from Jimmy in the month of June

The first was on June 4th

Sorry about last weeks email. I clicked the wrong button and it sent accidentally, and i was gonna write the rest but i ended up not because i got busy with transfers! Which means i got moved so yippee. Its funny because i only got moved across the streets up into a new zone and a new stake. Its great though, and its a lot of spanish. We had a breakfast with some stake auxiliaries for the missionaries, which is something the stake does, but the stake president said there are about 130,000 people in this stake and 100,000 speak Spanish. Which means i need to pick up the pase on learning more spanish. Anyways, the new area is sweet. Its nice to be in a new area after being in another for 6 months of your mission. Its nice meeting new people, living in a new space, getting out of routines and habits. Speak of a new space, wow i got lucky with this one. Got moved into a newer complex with the owner being a member himself. Its a 2 bed 2 bath. 4 elder apartment. And not many missionaries have been in it. And wow it is sweet. Sadly only 1 shower works but we some how make it work plus the gonna fix the other one soon. Aside from that having 4 elders is fun. You always keep a conversation running. And its fun to see where everyone is from. We have an elder who is from Venezuela. Its funny teaching him some english words like, tomfoolery, incomprehensable. Hes cool. Anyways my area is sweet its like a snickers bar with a bite taken out of the middle with a little line that conects it. And in the line is in'n'out so we good. My new comp is cool, he is from Northern California. And this is only his second transfer, so i am follow up training. Its sweet. He plays the piano and is pretty tall. Seems like with my companions i get a sort one, then a tall one, than a short one, and then another tall one. But hes cool. And we are on bikes again which i am happy about. But sadly its going to be 111 on thursday so. Anyways thats about it with my new area.

Now what about what happened the rest of last week. So yeah we went golfing and then to in-n-out, then to bath and body works. Then had a regular week for vegas, went on a couple exchanges, found a cat. Got to hold a kitten visited some sweet members before transfers, then got moved, before that we played volley ball as a district. The mountain was on fire i think. To many baptisms by fire i guess. Went to a guitar store to get a guitar case. Had a service missionary come out and pros with us. Which blessed us and he some how made everyone we talked to want to listen. Thats it for the last area, but my new area, oh yeah, good stuff. Thats pretty much it off the top of my head. Hope you all have a great day and i luv ya, "jesus man"

Now sin is universal. Its ever where, and in everyone. There was only one man who was perfect, and he was the only Begotten of the father. And because of that he took upon himself our pains, our sickness, our afflictions, even down to our temptations. He did this beautifully and sacrificially. And he did it for us that we can change. But, how do we change from our sinful behaviors.
In alma 5: 14 it tells us,

"And now behold, I ask of you, my brethren of the church, have ye spiritually been born of God? Have ye received his image in your countenances? Have ye experienced this mighty change in your hearts?"

A change of heart, having been spiritually born of God. But how do we get that change of heart.
Alma 37 tells us that in verses 32-33,

"And now, my son, remember the words which I have spoken unto you; trust not those secret plans unto this people, but teach them an everlasting hatred against sin and iniquity.

33 Preach unto them repentance, and faith on the Lord Jesus Christ; teach them to humble themselves and to be meek and lowly in heart; teach them to withstand every temptation of the devil, with their faith on the Lord Jesus Christ.

We need faith in christ, with that we can repent. And when true repentance happens when learn to hate sin. We gain a change of heart. That means we let go of our sins. We release them into the arms of the savior Jesus Christ. And after that God forgives us and those sins are cast down with satan and we never need to bring them back up again. I know that Jesus lives, and that we can have that change of heart. We just have to try, and try, and when we fail, we try again. The savior knew it was going to be hard. Because of that he Saved us. I love you all, and serving a mission has been a blesing. I miss you and pray for you all.

And the second was on June 25th

How's it going, everybody? It's been a good couple of weeks. I fell off my bike, fractured my wrest. A little silly, but all I have is a cast on for a little bit. I've been teaching some cool people and met some cool people.. It was pretty hot, but it cooled down a little bit. We had zone conference which was amazing. The last zone conference with president vance, at least for me because of the mission split. Looks like I will be in the Las Vegas East mission, with the new mission President being President McFarland looking forward to that and looking forward to being in the mission with the temple. We're getting a couple places from the West mission, it's gonna be sweet. For my wrist we got to leave the mission. Go to the West mission to a Doctor and they checked it out. Huge miracle but they said they couldn't find a fracture. So it's truly a miracle from our heavenly father. Awesome conference, but I'm going to miss President and sister Vance, they're amazing. It's fun living in a 4 Elder apartment. It's a struggle to get to sleep on time, but we have many laughs and it's highly enjoyable. Me and my companion alternative bill are doing great. Happy Father's Day. I'm grateful for a father that provides for a wonderful family.

And goes through much stress to maintain the family. I am grateful for a heavenly father who who created this world for us who created us and everything that is good. Went to the temple very beautiful, very enjoyable. Other than that, I think that's pretty much it. Had a lot of fun. Still tryna learn Spanish. Luv ya bye

D&C 122: 8-9

"8 The Son of Man hath descended below them all. Art thou greater than he? 9 Therefore, hold on thy way, and the priesthood shall remain with thee; for their bounds are set, they cannot pass. Thy days are known, and thy years shall not be numbered less; therefore, fear not what man can do, for God shall be with you forever and ever."

Jesus descended below anything. Because of that we have someone to turn to. Because of That God will be with us forever. I am so grateful for a father in heaven to be with us and to send us a son.

Well, folks, that's all she wrote for June 2024.  I hope you enjoyed it, and I will see you all tomorrow for July 2024
