June 2017

The beginning of June is always a very busy month for us.  It marks the end of school and beginning of summer, but also three of our seven children have birthdays within the first week.  Two of the birthday kids were in Texas with their mom and I missed getting birthday pictures of them.  I didn't get a whole lot of pictures but here's what happened for the Davis clan....

June started out very bittersweet as my grandmother, Florence Ellen Jones Deem, aka. Bammer, passed away.  Technically she passed away on the last day of May, but we had her grave site service in June.

Bammer was the only grandma I knew well.  Everyone should have a Bammer in their life.  I never called her grandma, she was always Bammer to us.  My older brother is the one who gave her the name.  When he was learning how to talk, they were trying to teach him how to say "grandma", he said Bammer and the name stuck.

Bammer was a woman of many talents.  She invented many delicious recipes and there wasn't anything she couldn't cook.  From what I understand, she had some classes in school that taught her spice combinations and from that she used her gift of cooking to make "specialty".  Her own spaghetti sauce, and in my opinion, the best sauce in the world.  In her youth, she worked for a time at a candy shop and learned how to make all kinds of candies.

Bammer was a seamstress extraordinaire.  She sewed fancy dressed for all her granddaughters when we were children.  She made us life size dolls once.  She did needlepoint and cross stitch.  And she would make Christmas stockings for everyone, no two stockings were the same.  She loved humming birds and puzzles.  She had hummingbird feeders outside the sun room.  She would sit out there putting puzzles together and watch the hummingbirds.  She also loved Canaries and had many of them throughout my childhood.

Bammer taught me how to play jacks, cross stitch, make pancakes, and much much more.  My life has been greatly blessed by her.  I had the privilege to be with her on her last days here on earth.  I am happy with the knowledge that she knew I was there.  I miss her, but I'm happy to know she is in heaven with my grandpa, Deem.  I know I will see them again.  God be with you until that time.

Her children from left to right: Douglas (my dad), Virginia, and Donald.
Meow-meow turned 4.

YC worked at D.I., he bought quite a few unique things.  One of his prized purchases was a Sombrero.

Unfortunately, YC got into his first car accident.  Luckily no one was hurt, it wasn't his fault, Nathan was with him at the time, and the car is still functioning.  Some guy rammed into the back of him.

Firebolt fractured her ankle.  She and Spider Monkey had been racing around, she tripped, fell, and thought she had twisted her ankle......One doctor visit and x-ray later.......

Spider Monkey is doing great at his riding lessons.  His teacher is always amazed at the natural talent he has for it.  He loves riding, loves the horses, and is comfortable on the horse.  His favorite horse to ride is Butch who is a Tennessee Walking Horse.

um....I don't have words for this.

Out for an evening bike ride.
Weird, I only got one picture of the cats.
She thinks she is such a good helper.
That's all "she wrote" for June 2017
