March 2025

 Ya'll ready for this?!?!

March started off with what would eventually become an ordeal that I hope to never have to experience again.  Four years ago, when we decided to move away from Bountiful, it was to hopefully find a house with fewer stairs, and a flat driveway and yard.  Finding a flat yard and driveway was the easy part, finding a house without too many stairs was impossible, especially one that had everything I needed all on one level.  So, we found a house that had fewer stairs.  However, those stairs, especially the ones going up into my bedroom, despite being shorter, were very steep.  When I tore my meniscus in my right knee, getting up stairs became more difficult, but I did my best to deal with it.  When I had my hysterectomy, the doctor told me that I could not go up or down stairs for six weeks, which basically made me a prisoner in my bedroom.  After my TIA in 2024, my energy levels dropped, and I wasn't sure I could keep up with the acre of land that we had. Combine that with a job layoff and an ever mounting pile of medical debt, we made the agonizing decision to move.  I hate moving, and after this year, I hate it even more.  The word "move" has now become a swear word.

We found a house in Kaysville which was located right behind Davis High School and the Davis Technical School.  As you can see from the picture, the house was a nightmare right out of the 70's.  I hated that house from the get-go.

The adult children, consisting of Jacen, Jaina, and Eilee moved in at the beginning of March.  Nathan also moved his office over.  Meanwhile, me, Meow-meow, and the CATS remained at the house in Layton as we didn't want to make Meow-meow have to move schools so late in the year, I was still recovering from surgery, and had another surgery on the horizon.  Nathan would go over during the day to work, and come home to the Layton house at night.  The plan was to have Nathan and the kids, in their spare time, come over to the Layton house, pack things up, and then move it over to the new house.  Then, right as soon as school ended, we would move me, Meow-meow, the CATS, and the rest of our stuff to the new house.  Keep in mind that the Landlords were fully aware of this plan because we didn't start paying the pet fee until the CATS moved over.  Nathan's office was over far enough from the offending spot in the sunroom that he didn't smell anything, and without any furniture in the Living Room, no one went in there, and no one was going into the two bedrooms at the end of the hallway, plus it was cold, so the smell remained undetected.  Now, if you have read the blog post about the ordeal we went through, you will know what I am talking about.  If not, you can either go read it now, or stick with me as we will get there in a few more blog posts.  But for now, let us continue with March.

Eliza had an award ceremony for her wrestling team.  She is an amazing wrestler!!

Meow-meow's elementary school put on a Shakespeare play and Meow-meow got the role of Shakespeare.  He did an amazing job.

My brother-in-law bought a Herbie and he let me take it for a drive.

The kittens were growing like weeds and starting to become mobile.....

News from Elder Davis

Fear not, I am alive. Dang it's been a while since I wrote an email home. Lots of wild things have been going on! Finding, teaching, baptizing, fellowshiping. Zone conferences, MLCs, more service on the Airforce base, transfers and transfers again. Wow. I can't even remember it all. It's been crazy. I simply got lost in the sauce. So many fun exchanges. We've met some of the most fun people these last few weeks. It's great. One of my favorite experiences recently has been teaching our friend Michael. We pull up in the middle of "Greater" Las Vegas. The streets out here get a little down in the trenches. Anyways, we pull up to my man's house, and he welcomes us in. The apartment complex he lives in has "salvation stoppers" is what we call them. They are pretty much metal gates that are locked and stops us from knock doors. But these ones are gated around a little front courtyard. Not very big at all. So we pull up and he's sitting behind the gate like a ninja. And he says "I've been waiting for you guys" like what. He opens the gate and we walk into this little courtyard. He's got these Japanese floor tiles, like the one you'd see Jackie Chan doing crazy stuff on. After we take off our shoes we walk into his apartment and he has a Bruce Lee jacket on his wall. The floor plan consisted of a bedroom, kitchen, bathroom, and living space. In the living space he had a whole gym. Weight set, squat rack, treadmill, ect. The man is huge. He was in a small white tank top so you could tell. We walk into his bed room. And there's these two paintings on the wall above his very well made bed. The paintings consisted of two angel wings, one per painting. On the right is this stone/glass desk. On top of it he's got his computer and this speaker set. On the speakers he's got this angelic music playing. And the computer screen occupied a video picture of the angel Michael. Wow. Looking around the room you could see multiple stone statues of ancient greek philosophers and a yin and yang ☯️  rug. That's not all. He pulls out these little kneeling mats. And has us kneel down and put a pillow in between our legs and our bums. We finally get situated on our knees, in his bedroom, while listening to angelic music with a Bruce Lee jacket right next to us in the middle of our area in Las Vegas. And He sits on is bed and starts to quote scripture. Brother quoted 3 Nephi 11:10-15 word for word, then smiled at us and said "what do you have for me today" we've only met this man 1 other time. And it was on exchanges before the transfer. We then talked about faith and it was nice. His home was like a temple, minus the Bruce Lee jacket. It was crazy. All that just chilling in the middle of north Las Vegas, the trenches. Anyways thats pretty much the only notable story I could think of. Life has just been crazy down here in las vegas. Opposition gets real. But I will press on and I hope you all do the same. Hope you all are doing well. Stay safe. Stay fresh. God bless. Luv ya bye.

Trasfer news:
After I was with Elder kelsch I stayed in gateway and got another old missionary named Elder devere from Morgan Utah.

This next transfer I am leaving the wonderful land of Las Vegas and I am going OUT OF VALLEY. let's goo. This is going to be fun. I am so excited. Im going to a place called Logandale. And my zone covers a whole punch of small towns. My companion is from CANADA. his name is Elder Appleton. FleighG! TeighG, Dre-Gon.

As I've talked about the restoration of the gospel, and church of Jesus Christ, I mentioned the blessings of having priesthood authority. These blessings have been sung through president Nelson's talk "Rejoice in the Gift of Priesthood Keys"

"Consider how your life would be different if priesthood keys had not been restored to the earth. Without priesthood keys, you could not be endowed with the power of God. Without priesthood keys, the Church could serve only as a significant teaching and humanitarian organization but not much more. Without priesthood keys, none of us would have access to essential ordinances and covenants that bind us to our loved ones eternally and allow us eventually to live with God."

Priesthood Keys are crucial in the order of the kingdom of God. It was ultimately the Lord Jesus Christ who gave the "Keys of the kingdom" to Peter. Making him the prohpet when Jesus Christ returned to our Father in Heaven.

Matthew 16:19
"19 And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven"

We use priesthood keys to make covenants through ordinances.

"Covenant: An agreement between God and His children. God gives the conditions for the covenant, and we agree to obey Him. God promises certain blessings for our obedience." -Gospel of Jesus Christ teaching pamphlet

"Ordinance: A sacred, formal act performed by the authority of the priesthood. Examples include baptism, receiving the Holy Ghost, and the sacrament. Ordinances are often a means of entering into covenants with God."
-Gospel of Jesus Christ teaching pamphlet

Recently I read in mosiah about the people of King Limhi. And how this group of people learn about covenants and desired the ordinance to make the Covenant.

Mosiah 21:31-35
31 Yea, they did mourn for their departure, for they knew not whither they had fled. Now they would have gladly joined with them, for they themselves had entered into a covenant with God to serve him and keep his commandments.
32 And now since the coming of Ammon, king Limhi had also entered into a covenant with God, and also many of his people, to serve him and keep his commandments.
33 And it came to pass that king Limhi and many of his people were desirous to be baptized; but there was none in the land that had authority from God. And Ammon declined doing this thing, considering himself an unworthy servant.
34 Therefore they did not at that time form themselves into a church, waiting upon the Spirit of the Lord. Now they were desirous to become even as Alma and his brethren, who had fled into the wilderness.
35 They were desirous to be baptized as a witness and a testimony that they were willing to serve God with all their hearts; nevertheless they did prolong the time; and an account of their baptism shall be given hereafter.

For those that dont want to read all of that, it basically says that the people of king limhi wanted to be baptized. But no one had priesthood keys. They were forced to wait.

Later in mosiah 25:17-18
"17 And it came to pass that after Alma had taught the people many things, and had made an end of speaking to them, that king Limhi was desirous that he might be baptized; and all his people were desirous that they might be baptized also.
18 Therefore, Alma did go forth into the water and did baptize them; yea, he did baptize them after the manner he did his brethren in the waters of Mormon; yea, and as many as he did baptize did belong to the church of God; and this because of their belief on the words of Alma."

As soon as the hade the chance to be baptized to took it. It is incredible the agency of this people. They did not waste their time. That verse tells me about my action.

In my life I feel as if I have taken my baptism by proper authority for granted. I was born into the true church of Christ. With prophets, and apostles. A priesthood line of authority, and power! Such a blessing in my life. And that is an understatement.

Every chance we get to make a promise with God we should take it. Every chance we have to grow our faith. Serve someone. Every chance we have to be a blessing, recieve a blessing, and use a blessing, we should take it. Because satan is a punk. And tries to destroy us. I have seen it so much. Way too much. It is awful, horrible to see some one miss their opportunity and give the adversary an inch of space. He's like a wedge. We can't even let him in a little bit, because he just sinks in deeper until we fall apart and it is almost seeming over for our salvation.

But I testify that it is never over. The battle was already one. The time and price was already covered.

And I invite you all to consider the covenants you have and haven't made. Find what actions you can make this time and moment and find your relationship with God. If you already have found your relationship with God. Find it again, you'll find something to improve. Will you do that?

I promise you all in the name of Jesus Christ thst you will find resonance with yourself and with God as you act as soon as you van. I Promise the blessings of live a restored life in christ, and eternal life. In the name of Jesus Christ, amen.

That's it for March.  See ya tomorrow.

February 2025

Hello and welcome to February 2025.

I was spending my time recovering from surgery, so there aren't a lot of pictures, and my memory of February is pretty hazy.  I do know that I was bored out of my mind.  I had a six week bed rest recovery, and so I watched a lot of When Calls the Heart.

Here are the pictures I do have....

Eilee had her wisdom teeth removed.

Meow-meow practicing his lines for the school play

I took pictures of my bedroom, and I have no clue why.

Whitley "helping" me.

One very pregnant Cocoa Bean

And.... Cocoa bean had her kittens.  Odd story about that.  She went into labor on a Thursday morning, and by evening, she had given birth to five beautiful and healthy kittens.  I sat with her through each delivery, but after she delivered the fifth one, she settled down and it seemed like she was done, but I felt like there were at least one, maybe two more kittens left to come, but as the hours passed, she didn't go into labor.  Friday morning came, and still there were only five kittens.  It was towards the end of February when she had the kittens, so by then I was able to start going back to the temple.  I am a temple worker and my shift is the Friday, second shift. When Nathan picked me up from the temple in the afternoon, he had a story for me.  Apparently, sometime in the afternoon, Cocoa went into labor again and delivered what we thought was one more kitten.  Later that day, as I was straightening up the blankets, I found one more kitten, unfortunately it didn't make it.  I've never seen that happen where a cat delivers kittens so far apart.

News from Jimmy

Sorry, this be quick. I am alive. I will send out a longer email next week.

Jesus Christ is perfect and he loves you. I have felt That love from him. It gives me strength and joy. How has that perfect love helped you?

With that perfect love we can be full.

3 nephi 20:8
And he said unto them: He that eateth this bread eateth of my body to his soul; and he that drinketh of this wine drinketh of my blood to his soul; and his soul shall never hunger nor thirst, but shall be filled.

Church is one of the best ways to feel of that love and be full.

Will you all invite someone to church this week?

I promise you in the name if Jesus Christ that you and whoever you invite will feel Jesus christs love for you at church.

In the name of Jesus Christ, amen!

That's all I have for now.  Come back tomorrow for March!

January 2025

The time has come, and it is time to do my yearly Davis Family Year in Review blog posts.  I can't believe it is that time of year again!!  Where did the time go?!?!  Let us begin....

Welcome to January 2025

We kicked off 2025 with celebrating Jaina's 22nd birthday!! (Technically she was born on December 31st, but we didn't get a chance to celebrate until January).

We heard of this nifty thrift store down in Provo that was reported to have real skeletons.  Like the skeletons of someone who, at one point in time, was alive.  Naturally we had to check it out, and we were not disappointed....

Ostrich egg.

Someone's glass eyeballs.

Very creepy

There were skeletons and bones all over this place.

Alligator skull or Crocodile skull?  I can't tell them apart in real life, so there's no way I could tell you which one this is.

Meow-meow was ordained as a Deacon, and was able to go do Baptisms for the dead for the first time.

I had to have a hysterectomy.  It would be the first of three surgeries, and the third surgery in a span of 9 months.

Sunrise on the way to the hospital

Before surgery

After surgery

Ready to go home from the hospital. Recovering from a hysterectomy was not my most favorite thing in the world.

Shenanigans...

Cocoa loves.

I don't think she is a fan.

Eilee doing art while keeping me company while I recovered.

I probably said something weird.

Jacen decided to do pull-ups.

Over time he got better.

Kitty snuggles....

This is one of her favorite places to lay down

and nap

She loves it.

Hanging out watching TV

Whitley was a fan of When Calls the Heart.

Jimmy, or I should say, Elder Davis was still serving his mission in Las Vegas.

Such fulfillment is the work of the Lord! How are you all doing? I had a great week. It's truly incredible. The joy is immense, and the fruit goes harvested. On New years Day, we started the year off with the best book you can read to draw nearer to God. We had another keystone day of revelation, where we study the Book of mormon from 9am to 9pm. This unchanged book of prophecy is truly a work of art. An art that brings both texture and color into one's life. The song of redeeming love is sung in that book. I know it is true. Without it, we are lost. It fills in one's life. I personally will make this kind of day a staple in my life. And I would recommend the same to you. Just one day a year to fast, pray and read, all day. It opens doors, heavenly doors. And the Spirit will not withdraw. So that started the week off great. We then weekly planned with one of the District leaders. Had incredible days. Met so many great people. Souls that are precious to the Lord. And we had the pleasure to help them see what their Heavenly Father sees in them. Had a few wonderful exchanges with some amazing missionaries. We had a tough week with getting people to church, but with that came the blessing of getting to know the members better. That's pretty much the update. Love you all. I hope this gospel is helping you all, as it has helped me. Reach out if you need anything, luv ya bye!

How lucky are we! How blessed are we! What joy do we have in this world! The fullness of the gospel. We have a beautiful, perfect, peaceful gospel given to use. Not only that but it's full. We have the fullness of the gospel with us, around us, and through us.

Sometimes, I've taken that for granted. It really is such a blessing. We have access to God's power

"I’ve been thinking about all of the marvelous things that we know and all of the things that we have. My beloved brothers and sisters, my testimony to you this morning is how abundantly blessed we are to know all that we know because we have Joseph Smith, the prophet of this last dispensation of time. We have an understanding of the purpose of life, of who we are. We know who God is; we know who the Savior is because we have Joseph, who went into a grove of trees as a boy, seeking forgiveness for his sins. I think it’s one of the most glorious and wonderful things that anybody in this world can know—that our Heavenly Father and the Lord Jesus Christ have revealed Themselves in this latter day and that Joseph has been raised up to restore the fulness of the everlasting gospel of Jesus Christ. We have the Book of Mormon. What a marvelous and wonderful gift the Book of Mormon is to the membership of the Church. It is another witness, another testament that Jesus is the Christ. We have it because Joseph was worthy to go get the plates, was inspired by heaven to translate them by the gift and power of God and to give the book to the world."
- M. Russell Balard

This restoration is happening through us this moment.

Preach my gospel page 117:
Reading the Book of Mormon with the guidance of the Spirit can help people find answers or insights to their personal questions—or questions of the soul. Help people see how the teachings in the Book of Mormon address life’s questions.

The gospel is being restored to us throughout our lives! And it is through the Book of Mormon. Because it answers our questions.

I love the restoration of the gospel. I know that the church of Jesus Christ has been restored to the earth. The power, the authority. It is all here for us. How lucky are we! How Blesses are we! In the name of Jesus christ amen.

Come back tomorrow for February....
