September 2025

Howdy!!  Welcome to September.

Let's start off with the bat saga update.  I don't have any pictures because pretty much nothing was going on.  We were straight up in limbo.  For the majority of the time, we had these huge fans in the Living Room that were supposed to be sucking out the smell, and supposedly these fans had some fancy chemical stuff that would be eliminating the smell.  It didn't work.  The smell had reached levels that we broke down one Sunday and went to Home Depot to get more painters plastic and tape so that we could tape and seal off the Living Room from the rest of the house.  Once we did that, the house became slightly more tolerable.  The clean up people were left scratching their heads because everything they had done so far should have worked.  We kept telling them that there was another source somewhere, but they said they had checked everywhere.  We told them it was behind the bricks and that the brick wall needed to be torn down.  Time ticked by while discussions were made with the homeowners.  In the meantime the last thing the cleaning people said they could do, short of tearing down the brick wall was to ozone the Living Room, and that is precisely what we did.   Everyone, including the cat had to vacate the house for the weekend.  Luckily it was the weekend of a home football game, and so we went and stayed with my parents.  As with all of the other cleaning and chemical efforts made, for a couple of days all we could smell was ozone, and it seemed to have gotten rid of the smell.  Here's the thing about doing an ozone treatment, it WILL kill the smell, if there isn't another source hiding somewhere where the ozone couldn't get to.....  After a few days though, the smell came back with a vengeance.  And we waited, not knowing what was going to happen next.  Come to find out, bat damage is not covered under homeowners insurance, which meant that the homeowners had paid for everything up to this point all out of pocket.  That also meant that tearing down the brick wall would not be covered under insurance and it would be, at minimum a $50,000.00 job.  September was coming to a close and we were no closer to having answers, getting things fixed, nor being able to unpack and settle in.  The house smelled horribly, and I constantly felt like I had cold.  This ordeal had been going on for four months now.  Needless to say we were getting pretty sick and tired of it.

The football game was pretty awesome though.  We played Stanford and beat them soundly with a final score of 27-3

I had a birthday.  Eilee and Meow-meow were sneaky and organized a surprise birthday party for me.  I have always wanted a surprise birthday party, so it was really wonderful and I LOVED IT.

They made my favorite meal, Baked Bean Chili

I can't possibly be 52 can I?!?!?

We celebrated all of the September birthday's, there are three of us.  Jacen was stuck working at Lagoon and couldn't get the day off for the party, which is why he isn't in the photos.

Tuesday's were Jimmy's P-day which meant that we got to have weekly video chats with him.  There were lot's of fun conversations and shenanigans that took place.

We didn't get emails from Elder Davis, but we did get pictures.
