Church in Dubai

Now we get to the confusing part, in Dubai, Friday is Sunday, Saturday is still Saturday but almost like Sunday because it's the second day of the weekend instead of the first, and Sunday is Monday.  So, we found ourselves going to church on Friday, March 2nd.  It really messed my days up!!

Our "nondescript" church  building

Christians can and do hold church services in Dubai.  They have church on Friday just like the Muslims.  You can't display the title of your Christian church anywhere on the outside of the building, they don't care how you decorate on the inside.  There is enough of an LDS influence in Dubai that there are two wards and last year, Elder Holland came out and organized a stake in Abu Dhabi.  So, the outside of the church building looks just like any other building around, but go inside and it looks exactly like any other LDS church building.  It was really weird going to church on Friday.  It threw my days all off.

Across the street from our "chapel" was a mosque.  I thought the towers resembled rockets or really tall castle turrets.
Over in Silicon Oasis, they have a building that they call the "Pineapple Building."
So, it is a 33,000 square foot business center and one of the largest such buildings in the UAE.  It 16 story's of fully serviced offices.  It caters for everything from a single work station to an unlimited number of offices.  They have concierge services, in-house catering, a copy center managed by Fedex Kinko's, a courier service, banks, restaurants, and a post office.  Even their office buildings are posh!!

And you can get anything by delivery.  Yes, that is a McDonald's delivery cycle.
This is a short blog for today.  After church we went back to Aaron's house where we relaxed, played games, and had a leisure Frunday.
