Spider Monkey turned 9

HAPPY 9TH BIRTHDAY SPIDER MONKEY!!

This picture was taken at the Thanksgiving Point Museum of Natural Curiosity. Stay tuned for pictures from that.
This handsome young man turned 9 a couple of days ago.  He is such a playful and happy-go-lucky boy.  His antics keep me laughing.  He's got such an upward, light, happy energy to him.  I believe he's a Type 1 like me :)

On Saturday, his Grandma and Grandpa Deem came to our house and gave him his present....Grimlock.  He's been wanting Grimlock for a very long time.  I just love the look of pure happiness and joy on his face.
I have a tradition that I started several years ago for birthdays.  I fix whatever you want for your birthday dinner..the sky is the limit.  I also let them choose if they want cake, pie, or in Spider Monkey's case....doughnuts.  Spider Monkey was off having birthday fun with his dad on his birthday so we did a little birthday fun Saturday evening and then I did his birthday dinner last night.

We had a family party to attend Saturday evening and Spider Monkey asked if we could do a Pinata.  I dashed down to the store and picked up a Spiderman Pinata for him.  They all had tons of fun beating it open.  I took a video of Jimmy smashing it apart.  It's on my facebook.  Everyone who wanted a turn at hitting the pinata got to take a few swings.  They all loved it.

We gave him his presents on his birthday.  One can never go wrong with Lego's (especially when they are spiders from The Hobbit) and Transformers.

The birthday dinner tradition:  I will fix for dinner whatever meal you request.  We've had some interesting requests too (Kimchi, for example And thank heavens for Korean markets).  Spider Monkey requested Scones and Bacon

That's only the first plate of Scones.  For our family, I have to make a ton.
Part of the birthday dinner is picking the dessert of choice.   You can choose a cake but you get to decide which flavor of cake and what kind of frosting, you can choose a pie, or any other kind of dessert item you would like.  Spider Monkey told me on Saturday that his choice was for doughnuts so I asked him again on Monday if doughnuts were what he wanted and he assured me that indeed they were.   So, doughnuts with candles it was.

Happy Birthday to my fabulous, wonderful, awesome, fantastic, handsome, and sweet Spider Monkey!!

He wasn't happy about the wax all over the doughnut.  I told him that this doughnut was just to hold the candles.  He was much happier to have a fresh, non-wax covered doughnut.  But I just loved the look on his face here.
