Thanksgiving Point Museum of Natural Curiosity

We decided to do something fun with the kids on the last day of summer vacation.   Initially we had planned on going to Seven Peaks Provo, but the weather rained on that parade.....quite literally too (I'm holding out hope for Labor Day to be nice enough to go).  Instead we opted to go down to Thanksgiving point and play at their new museum, the Museum of Natural Curiosity.  Friends, this museum is AWESOME!!  It's got this jungle room with rope bridges and a huge climbing play area.  It's got a water room where you can experiment with all kinds of water fun.  It's got a motion room where you can learn about movements.  It's got a place called Kidopolis where you can make stop motion movies, do magic tricks, play with huge Legos and much more.  Outside it's got a maze, a splash pad, a Koi pond, a playground, and a whole forest to explore.  We were there for around 4 hours and still didn't do everything there was to do.

After the museum, we dashed home for quick showers, a fast dinner, and a change into our Sunday best.  We went up to see the Ogden Temple open house.  The temple was FABULOUS, the rain WAS NOT.  It was raining way too hard to get pictures of all of us in front of the temple :(  But the temple was just BEAUTIFUL!! I can easily say it's my favorite temple now.  It quite literally took my breath away.

Live Wire playing with Meow-meow
They have this hang like a sloth exhibit.  Got several good shots of Space Man Spiff trying to hang like a sloth.

They also have this pitch black cave with obstacles to try and get your way through.  They placed cameras inside so you can watch from the outside and get a kick out of watching.

Squeeze like a python

Lovely whimsical tree.

That's a wheelbarrow full of cuteness right there.

He built this hose.......on rock and roll
The magic hat.  I couldn't talk Lion Heart, Fire cracker, or Nathan into doing it.

 Fun in the water room.

You could step into this and feel what it's like to be in high winds.

Sun bathing
Spider Monkey cracks me up.  First he had to fight the bear and then he wanted a shot by shot picture of him walking away

Hanging like a monkey

Queen of the mountain.

Love the look on his face.

The First Day of School

I can hardly believe another summer has come and gone.  The holidays are just around the corner and another school year has started.  We had a fabulous summer (although the last several weeks have been a bummer with the rain making it impossible to go to the water park).  I remember growing up, school would start on September 1st and get out on June 6th....I miss that.  I'm not a big fan of school starting in August.
This dashing young ,man started 8th grade.  He's almost 14 now and will be ordained as a Teacher soon!!  He's got a fabulous mustache going on :).  He's almost taller than me....when did that happen? It seems like yesterday that he was starting Kindergarten.

This amazing young lady started 6th grade.  Her very last year of elementary school.  I can hardly believe she's growing up so fast.  She'll be 12 at the end of the year and going into Young Women's.

I was looking through pictures at my parents house and I came across this picture. This is me at the same age...there are differences but wow!!  She looks a lot like me :)

Mr. Lion Heart started 5th grade.

Spider Monkey started 4th grade.  Silly boy wanted his picture to look sad because it was the first day of school.  But at the end of the day, he reported that he likes his teacher.

This sweet young lady started 3rd grade.  Goodness!!  I remember when she started Kindergarten...that seems like ages ago but also like it was yesterday.

Miss Tiger Lily started 2nd grade.  They grow up so fast!!!

And this little guy gets mommy all to himself all day.

There you have it folks, the 2014-15 school year should be a good year full of fun and learning.  Goodbye summer, I will miss you!!
